Exhibiting at Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City is a theme park here in Branson - similar in many ways to Knott's Berry Farm in Southern California. Each year at this time, SDC has a "Cowboy Festival" and craftsman from all over Missouri - and even other states - are invited to exhibit their work. The time available to each crafts person will vary but it's a wonderful experience for all. Members of our Art Guild exhibited for the first time last year and were invited back again this year. One thing I learned after exhibiting last year is that I'm no longer ready to work 10 or 12-hour days - and so I asked another member to share the space with me - and we split the time as well. Made it much easier on both of us! The weather left something to be desired as it was extremely hot and humid - and we had several storms pass through the first three days as well. But in spite of all of that, I sold several pieces - and Ed and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. Below are pictures of the park during one of the several storms (people duck for cover and come out after the storm passes!) - as well as my space partner and guild member, Karen Pugh. The gentleman with the beard and white hair makes beautiful hand-made barrels - but he stopped for a bit when a butterfly landed on his work! There are also photos of some of the images that sold - and I was delighted at how much attention the abstracts received - people would invariably stop to learn more about them so they were a wonderful addition to the exhibit!

Now I'm getting artwork ready for our guild's annual Fall Show - which will be held on October 1st and 2nd right here in Kimberling City. More on that in the next post!
